"Where there is no vision, the people perish."
-- A proverb from the Jewish scriptures
What's it all about, Alfie?

The Dilemma
We put our lives on auto-pilot. We come into work and do the tasks we've been assigned. We rarely have time to pick up our heads and ask whether what we do is still connected to a larger purpose. The result is that we miss the point. We have done what was urgent, but not what was important.
Reflection Questions:
- What is the relationship between what you do each day and your life's purpose? How would you articulate your life mission?
- How is what you do each day aligned with the most important priorities of the organization? How are you contributing to the organizational mission?
- What can you do to help team members see the connection between what they do on a daily basis and the overall purpose of the organization?
Take Action:
If you are a manager or leader, conduct a team meeting to clarify the purpose of the organization, the role your team plays and the contribution each team member makes. Inspire team members to recommit to creating value for clients, each other and society.
