As we come to the close of this strange and tumultuous year on the markets, I thought we might take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments of EnWave in 2008, and to remind you that our company continues to develop and grow despite the financial chaos surrounding us all.
Since the beginning of this year, we have made tremendous gains in the development of four dehydration platforms, all based on the same Radiant Energy Vacuum technology: nutraREV for food, bioREV and freezeREV for live pharmaceuticals, and powderREV for bulk liquids. We are now well into a comprehensive testing program that we hope will prove that REV is a superior technology to the industry standard of freeze drying which is not only energy intensive and time consuming, but also a harsh environment for healthy organisms.

nutraREV

EnWave’s commercial-scale food dehydration machine is now finished and being made ready for the final volume test at our partner’s facility in Richmond, B.C. Over the next short while, we hope to prove that this first nutraREV machine can produce 800 kg of dried blueberries per day on a reliable basis. Once this capacity is proven, our partner, CAL-SAN Enterprises has committed to purchase this machine and provide EnWave with our first commercial revenues. We will then embark on a marketing campaign to target a number of larger North American berry and vegetable processors with the goal of obtaining several more machine sales and a royalty stream in 2009/10.

bioREV

In 2008 we proved that bioREV is a promising technology for the dehydration of live pharmaceuticals with our announcement that we had successfully dried a Rotavirus vaccine sample with our collaboration partner, Aridis Pharmaceuticals. This sample showed no significant loss in live activity over a 5 month period, despite being kept at 37˚C. This compared extremely well against the one freeze-dried Rotavirus vaccine on the market which is confirmed stable at this temperature for only one week.

freezeREV

Tests conducted with the bioREV technology at the beginning of this year indicated that the moisture content of our dried vaccine samples was higher than the industry standard. EnWave engineers set to work on this problem and developed an entirely new REV technology called freezeREV which also produces dried vaccines, but at a lower moisture content. Testing conducted to date by our scientists indicates that the choice between bioREV and freezeREV in processing live pharmaceuticals at high speed will be determined by the characteristics and sensitivity of each material. We are now looking to develop a partnership with a global manufacturer to commercialize both the bioREV and freezeREV technologies.

powderREV

The newest member of EnWave’s technology family is our powderREV proof-of-concept. EnWave engineers have taken REV technology in a bold direction with the development of a machine to dehydrate bulk liquids such as probiotics and enzymes for use as dried food cultures. To date, we have conducted a set of experiments at our engineering facility, and we will soon be moving powderREV to EnWave’s lab for a broader set of tests using a variety of food-grade probiotics. In 2009 we will continue the search for the right partner with the experience and market reach to help us build a larger scale prototype of this product.

And finally, contrary to the losses being experienced by others in the market, our communications program appears to be paying off in increased share trading volumes and a relatively stable share price on both the TSX-V and the FSE. Our investor relations partners in Germany, AXINO AG, have worked tirelessly for us over the past two quarters to help build a solid base of investors who are excited by EnWave’s promise and who are committed to holding our shares for the longer term.
All of us at EnWave are dedicated to the success of this company and, with your help, we will see our fundamentals win out over what we hope are short term market gyrations. Thank you for your continued support of our company.
Kind regards,
