at KOBO at HIGO, Saturday, May 19

Please join us as we celebrate the unveiling of  Part Two of the Wing Luke Museum,  "Meet Me at Higo" exhibit which opens on site in the Higo Variety Store space on Saturday, May 19th. (The reception is from 6-8pm)

MEET THE PEOPLE THE BEHIND THE SCENES,
Meet Me at Higo - Part Two is an unique and special partnership between the Murakami Family, the Wing Luke Museum and KOBO Gallery and shop.

This part of the the Wing Luke exhibit will be a permanent exhibit on-site in the Higo Variety Store space and will preserve and interpret the Higo 10 Cents Store story for the community and future generations.

Higo Variety Store is an example of how a space can be reused and repurposed and still maintain a connection to its past. Partly a time capsule and a living museum, meanwhile an actively used space showcasing Northwest contemporary art and design.   Higo remains an integral part of the next chapter of Japantown.

MEET KEN MOCHIZUKI
Author, Ken Mochizuki, of the book  "Meet Me at Higo: An Enduring Story of a Japanese American Family", will also give a short talk with a book signing on May 19 from 6-8pm.

The work is inspired by Renaissance painting and frames, trompe l'oeil, manuscript illumination, and all things miniature. Christina's newest work includes gilded specimens from nature- twigs, bones and shells, some embellished with tiny landscape paintings.
