Three Jewelry Artists Iris Guy Jennifer Bennett Micki Lippe November 6 - November 28 Opening reception Saturday, November 6, 6 - 8pm
Jennifer Bennett, Di Luce Design
Seattle artist, Jennifer Bennett has been making jewelry and sculptural objects for over a decade. Interested in material and form she scavenges materials from the woods (like moss), and unlikely places like grocery stores, one find was Japanese seaweed. Re-discovering mica several years ago, she remembered that she used to flake it from rocks up the road from her childhood home in Idaho. She continues to incorporate this material into many of her wearable objects. Mica comes from the Latin word micare, which means to glitter. Jennifer has always been drawn to objects that reflect light, are translucent, or are light in weight when worn on the body. Jennifer considers herself fortunate enough to share studio space with many talented local jewelers from whom she seeks advice and inspiration. She has learned a lot from some great teachers inside and outside institutions. A former elementary teacher herself, she now makes art, raises her son, and volunteers for two organizations that support underprivileged women and children in Nepal.
Iris Guy
Simple, contemporary and lightweight, Iris's jewelry collection offers something for everyone. Each individual piece is hand made, culled from unspoken desires and organic forms, playful rock shapes and circles. Her pieces say to their wearers - "Respond to your inner truth and desires"
Iris Guy began studying conceptual design at an early age. Her avid interest in the field led to her formal study at the renowned Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.
Today the Iris Guy collection is available at fine boutiques and galleries in Seattle and around the world and in the prestigious Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Israel. Seattle Art Museum and the Contemporary Jewish Museum, SF. www.irisguy.com
Micki Lippe
Micki is an art jeweler, a teacher, a mentor and a volunteer. A studio jeweler for almost 40 years, Micki makes both production and one of a kind jewelry. Micki was the founder and first president of the Seattle Metals Guild. She served on the board of Pratt Fine Art Center and was President of Society of North American Goldsmiths. Currently she is the chair of the SMG Women's Shelter Jewelry Project. Her work is included in 500 Earrings, Art Jewelry Today and Adorn. An important part of Micki's artistic development was a year spent living and sharing a studio Germany.

HiiH Lighting
November 6 - Through December Opening reception Saturday, November 6, 6 - 8pm
HiiH - pronounced "Hi Hi"
brings together the function of light, the craft of paper, and the art of sculpture. Handcrafted in Portland, Oregon, our designs are seen in residential and commercial settings throughout the country.
We are a husband-wife team who work collaboratively from concept and design through to the creation of our paper light sculptures, continually inspiring one another into further exploration. Beginning with natural raw materials, we employ both traditional and self-taught techniques. The rhythms of papermaking, wire bending, and papering, painting and waxing shape our days and weeks. For us, this work feels both functional and expressive. We consider how the light will affect the feeling and usage of a space. We are deeply inspired by the natural world to invoke the cycles of new growth, of silence and fruition that we see and feel in our lives. Through our work, we hope to enhance these elements in other people's lives. We also draw extensively on the wellspring of Asian aesthetics. Lām Quảng, originally from Vietnam, began making his own paper in the late 1990s. He soon turned his skills toward the creation of sculptural lamp forms, inspired by childhood memories of moon festivals. In time, Lām's papermaking skills reached a level of refinement allowing tremendous creative freedom. In 1998 he opened HiiH Gallery in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon. Kestrel Gates joined Lām in 2004, drawing on her background in the performing arts to enrich the design and creation of HiiH's lamp forms. Xanh joined his parents in 2007. He specializes in durability testing.
