DebSchwartzkopfCup

Debra Schwartzkopf finds herself making a full circle as she returns to Seattle, her childhood home after ten years of traveling for school, residencies and job opportunities.  Currently Pottery Northwest is her  home studio where she makes pots and teaches community classes. She is also teaching at Seward Park Clay Studio, as well as workshops across the country.

When she initially left Seattle in the winter of 1999, her clay pursuits took her to  the University of Alaska in Anchorage,  San Diego State University and later she completed a Masters in Fine Arts at the Pennsylvania State University.

She has traveled to China through an NCECA student show award, received the Lilian Fellowship to be a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in 2005.
She joined the Ohio University Ceramics Program as a Visiting Assistant Professor, was also an Artist in Residence at Mudflat Studios near Boston in Somerville, MA.

During the summer of 2009, she made the 3300 mile journey across the country back to Seattle to work at Pottery Northwest,  putting down her roots  in the Pacific Northwest again.

KOBO is pleased to have her back in the gallery.
