Japanese flower arranging workshop
Sunday, June 14th, 1-3pm
Join us for a workshop session with Ikebana instructor, Megumi Schacher featuring contemporary summer arrangements using Northwest flowers and plants.
The class is open to the beginner or for those with more experience.
Megumi is a member of the Seattle branch of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana and a certified instructor. June 14, 1:00 - 3:00pm Greeting Summer in the Northwest!
Workshop Fee: $30
In this workshop, we will do two arrangements celebrate the coming of summer. The first will be a floating arrangement in a shallow container.
The second will be a tall vase arrangement involving special techniques to fix branches in the vase. Tall vases are challenging. Learn ikebana techniques to fix branches and flowers inside tall vases. The challenge is to position your branches, leaves and flowers at angles inside the vase to achieve beautiful effects.
***** Participants should bring both a shallow container with a flat bottom, 10-12" in diameter and a tall vase (10-12" high and 3-4" wide). Plastic shallow containers can be purchased for $3 from the instructor for the class. More information about what to bring will be detailed in a class list.

A Day in the life at KOBO
Our staff member, Mikano Fukaya is currently performing in Titus by William Shakespeare at Washington Ensemble Theatre on Capitol Hill. The ensemble took his bloodiest play and made it into a very well designed, beautiful and chilling production. This production runs through June 15.
Who knew she was an actress? Actually, all the staff members at KOBO are very creative.
Linda makes the unique chirimen ball necklaces you have seen at both stores. Sana makes the new Japanese style bags and pouches. Akika is a graphic designer. Naoko cooks various Japanese food.
Next time you stop by, feel free to ask our staff what they have been working on!
