Tanya Owens
Ocean Thang Trunk Show, Friday evening, August 29, 6-8pm
Tanya Owens is an artist from Southern California, where her love of the ocean started early in life. As a child she would go to her grandfather's apartment at the beach in San Clemente where she and her sister would boogie board, body surf and collect shells from the shore. There was always so much vibrancy and life at the beach, whether in the water or on shore, that it soon became her favorite place to be. As an adult the sea found its way into her creative life. Tanya learned to incorporate many different beading techniques such as, Peyote stitch, Brick stitch and Ndebele stitch, which she uses to create her sea squirt and anenome forms.
After moving to Seattle, Washington she took many classes at Pratt Fine Arts Center where she learned electroforming copper and enameling techniques. They are her favorite mediums to create her ocean creatures. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
