DANCE APPLICATIONS FOR THE TRI ART FESTIVAL

The sixth Annual TriArt Festival/ Dance will take place September 24/25th, 2012 in the Ports O' Call Village in San Pedro CA. This is a free family event that will feature dance and music performances on two stages. For more about last year's dance companies and schedule, click here. For the Festival, both music and dance, please see their web site at: http://www.triartfestival.com. Last year we received many more applications than there was room for, so if you were not selected before, please try again, perhaps with a different piece. There is always great diversity in the programming.

There is an interest in all dance forms performed by professional companies including traditional ballet and modern as well as ethnic dance forms and hip-hop. Most of the works were traditional in their presentation last year, but three companies did interactive pieces that involved audience members, and this is another area of interest. This is for an outdoor stage approximately 34 x 27 feet covered with marley. Performance are during the afternoon in natural lighting - if it is especially sunny there is a canopy over the stage. Each set will be 15-30 minutes. It is a showcase (no funds for the companies and no fee to apply), and we have moved the festival location to insure a good-turn out on both days. With the move last year, we averaged about 1,000 people each day for the dance and music events. We anticipate good media coverage, both before and after.

Besides the professional companies, last season we initiated short selections from pre-professional companies to introduce them to the community. We will be doing that again, and for this category please make your entries under 10 minutes.

Last year one of the promo articles included this one from The Daily Breeze.

To apply, contact Louise Reichlin, Dance Coordinator, or Joe Caccavalla, Founder/Director, and please sent a link to a proposed work and digital press packet. If you prefer a DVD, please see the address at the bottom of this email. If you need your materials returned, send a SASE. Remember that most in the professional category perform 15-30 minutes, and the pre-professional (just 3 per day) under 10 minutes.
