As you may already know, the City of Los Angeles' Chief
Administrative Officer released a report calling for immediate cost-saving
measures. The CAO's report is calling for the immediate elimination of the
grants program - including all unencumbered 09/10 grants.
An additional proposal regarding removing The Department of
Cultural Affairs (DCA) only dedicated source of revenue, the Transient and
Occupancy Tax will be discussed on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. For a city like ours with the numbers of artists and arts organization, the elimination of DCA would cut the soul of the city, not to mention cause the loss of so much commerce based on the city's arts events. This will affect all of our regular and educational activities.
