This engaging interactive site specific work will be presented for the third year at the Sun Valley Youth Arts Center on Wednesday, 11/18/09. We will be using some of our grant money so students can participate for FREE. 4-6th graders come from the schools working with us this year: King Jr. Elementary, Stonehurst Elementary, and Rockdale Elementary. "Dance at the Stone House" performed by Louise Reichlin & Dancers is a work that uses audience participation to design a dance piece based on the unusual architecture and art that is the Sun Valley Youth Arts Center in Sun Valley, CA. The event is both educational for the participants, and  FUN TO WATCH AND FREE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. For an article about the original performances see our  Education Notes 2008. Above are some of the students who attended and participated in our first Dance at the Stone House in October 2007, Ritter ES and Millikan MS. Last year, students from Charles H. Kim ES, Loyola Village ES, and Pacoima Performing Arts Magnet attemded our 2008 event. Right after our performances at the Stone House with dancers Samantha Hoe, Steven Nielsen, Katya Sussman, Danielle Catone, and Sung-Yun Park, we leave for a mini -  tour of three schools in the San Luis Obispo Unified School District. The schools include Sinsheimer, Baywood Avenue, and Monarch Grove. Thanks to Jennifer Irving and Sharon Lewis for arranging for our accommodations. For you history folk, the photo to the right is from 1959 of Alfred Desio and Joe Pilates in Joe's studio on 8th Ave. Alfred used to assist him.

Coming up as we get into December is The Better to Bite You With. On December 2, 2009, we return to the Steelworkers Auditorium sponsored by the Cultural Arts Dept of Fontana and by Target.
