Happy New Year!

I just know this is going to be another outstanding year for the Shelton Jaycees.

I need your help developing our 2010 Chapter Plan of Action!

This Tuesday at our January Membership meeting (at the Greater Valley Chamber Offices) we're going to be brainstorming project ideas in all 4 programing areas: the Community Area, the Individual Area, the Business Area and the State/National/International Area.

We'll take the ideas generated at the brainstorming session and use them to create a Membership Survey which we'll be emailing out to everyone shortly after the meeting. We'll need everyone to reply by the 23rd because on the 24th we're having our Annual Planning Session. (Don't be surprised if you get a call from a board member nagging you to FILL OUT THE SURVEY!)

The Planning Session on the 24th is where we'll draft the 2010 Calendar, Budget and specific Goals in each programing area.  We're holding this event at Melissa's house starting at 6 PM and Pizza will be on the menu.

This years' Board of Directors has already received some great suggestions for the new year and I can't wait to share them with you on Tuesday.

I'm so excited to be serving as your 2010 Chapter President. Together we're going to do great things!

See you on Tuesday!

January Membership Meeting This Tuesday the 12th at the Greater Valley Chamber Offices - Please attend

Gavel Pic
Tuesday Jan. 12th  8 pm - 9:20 pm at the Greater Valley Chamber Offices
900 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.

Please note the unusual location! Every four months our regular meeting location (the Pinerock Firehouse) has a conflicting event on the 2nd Tuesday. So our January, May & September meetings have to be moved to another location.  The Greater Valley Chamber Offices are on the second floor of the Wachovia Bank Building between Burger King & Stop & Shop on Bridgeport Ave.

This is going to be an eventful meeting you won't want to miss. In addition to the project brainstorming and survey designing for 2010 we were able to book a fantastic trainer to give us a fun refresher course in Parliamentary Procedure
The training will be short but intense. 10 minutes  complete with bloody floor fights and challenges to the chair!  You'll learn the exciting answers to these questions:

True or False? "You can amend the amendment, but you can't amend the amendment to the amendment."

How can the Chair not recognize you when you're standing three feet away?!

After this training you'll know all the tricks from calling the question, when you can make a motion to table, how to make your lover scream*, and motions to reconsider!

Bring your energy and ideas. It will be 10 minutes of Training, 10 minutes of project news, and 20-30 minutes of brainstorming! Getting your project idea out and on the survey is the first step in getting your project idea on the Calendar and in the Budget.

Let's make 2010 the most fun yet!

(After the meeting we'll set up an assembly line to fold, label, stamp and stuff 350 envelopes for the Arts & Crafts Fair.)

* Just checking to see if you were paying attention ;-)
Annual Planning Meeting
Melissa Photo
Sunday Jan. 24th at 6 pm at Melissa's place.

The purpose of this event is to create a proposed Calendar of Events & Budget and set Goals for our 4 programming areas.

To make this work we'll need everyone to fill out their Surveys as soon as they get it in their email and have as many people as possible come to this meeting.

With everyone's help we'll create a Plan of Action that is balanced in all areas, and meets the expectations of our membership and community.
