| Greetings! |

Just in the past month, we've planned the Best Pizza in Shelton Membership Night. We've started this year's American Cancer Society Relay for Life team and we've begun planning several team fundraisers. We've accepted our first 29 exhibitors for our Arts & Crafts Fair in June. And we've put together three bowling teams, 13 people total who raised seven hundred and sixty dollars for victims of domestic violence.
I almost forgot, we even managed not to cry watching the movie Shopaholic. (well... except for one person... whose secret is safe with us)
Here's what's planned for the next few months:
March is loaded with events. This Tuesday March 10th is our membership meeting. The 17th is a St. Patrick's Day Social combined with a ACS Relay for Life team fundraiser. On the 24th we'll be headed out to the Blue Cube billiards club for our 4th Tuesday Social and Sunday March 29th is our BEST PIZZA IN SHELTON MEMBERSHIP OPENHOUSE. (Details in the article blocks below)
April is shaping up pretty well too. Plans are in the works for a clothing drive at our April Meeting, an Earth Day clean-up event, a spring hike, and another Relay Team fundraiser at Hula Hanks in New Haven.
So far May will feature our annual Mother's Day flower sale, a quarterly state convention, and a Rock Benefit Concert for our Relay Team.
Make sure you invite a prospective new member to help us choose the Best Pizza in Shelton Sunday the 29th 5 p.m. at Pinerock Firehouse 722 Long Hill Ave. in Shelton!
No other club offers more opportunities to meet people and volunteer! Check out the details below.

Our chapter accomplished great things this past month.
Sharon held one of the best committee meetings I've ever seen. She had nine committee members that planned every last detail of the upcoming Best Pizza event in less than two and a quarter hours. That time frame includes a change of location from the Huntington Street Cafe to Dunkin Donuts on the other side of town. The location changed because the band started earlier than we expected at the Cafe.
The planning process was extremely well organized and I just know this event will be a huge success. We were even done early enough to go back and have drink at Huntington Street Cafe after we finished!
Melissa and Kris have done outstanding work setting up the Relay team and planning multiple events to raise money for the American Cancer Society. On top of all that they are helping on the Pizza committee too. Their enthusiasm is contagious!
Nikole Lindley spent the entire day volunteering at the Bowl to Benefit last Saturday. Before the event she made sure our three teams had their team packets and that their lanes were reserved for the shifts they wanted. She also collected over seventy dollars worth of prizes for the event. On our teams, Gary Ferris, Jim Lee and Rob Chonko all nearly tied for top fundraiser. Gary collected $95 and both Jim Lee and Rob collected $100 each.
So many people have done so much to get us a strong start this year. Our 09 project survey has had record responses. Wendy Holden and Kris White have produced great printed materials. There's just too many individual actions to list.
The old saying - "Many hands make light work" couldn't be more true!
See you at the next event!
Kate :-) |

| Best Pizza in Shelton Open-house / M-Night Committee Meeting |
|
Saturday March 14th 4p.m. at Panera Bread on Bridgeport Ave. there will be a committee meeting to plan the final actions needed for our annual Best Pizza in Shelton Open-house.
So far we have 6 restaurants formally committed to donating pizzas for our event: Giove's, Basil's, Shelton Pizza Palace, Bella Vista, Antonio's and Porky's. We still have a few more possibilities that we need to follow up with this coming week: Va's, Casa Nova, Artan's, Villa, Il Palio, Vincent's and Restorante V.
The event itself will take place on Sunday March 29th 5 p.m. at Pinerock firehouse 722 Long Hill Ave. in Shelton. Invite friends family and coworkers! This event is always a lot of fun. To sign up to help Sharon run this event, come to the committee meeting!

| St. Patrick's Day Social / Relay Team Fundraiser |
|
Tuesday March 17th - Time and Location to be announced. We'll be going to a local pub or two to give away Beads and other Green Items in exchange for Relay Team donations.
With any luck we'll have all the details ready to be announced at the membership meeting this Tuesday. New member, Kris White is working very hard to pull this project together on short notice. It should work a lot like the Hula Hanks night we did last year where we gave away silk flower leis in exchange for a dollar donation. (Mark your calendars - Melissa & Kris have set up Hula Hanks again this year for Saturday Apr. 25th 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.)
In a worst case scenario, if we're not able to secure permission to collect Relay donations at a local establishment, we'll still get together on St. Patrick's Day to brain storm more ideas for the Relay HOPE sign contest.
To sign up for the St Patrick's Day fundraiser call Kris at (203) 751-7626 or drop her an email here. To sign up for the Relay team on-line follow this web-link. Members are encouraged to sign up on-line early and pay the $10 registration fee in advance. The sooner we get 10 people signed up with the registration fee, the sooner we can reserve our camp site.
