~ What You Need to Know for triTulsa ~ | |

Kids...Elites...Beginners Unite!
Your Race is Coming !
triTulsa is unique. triTulsa is challenging. triTulsa is an experience. triTulsa is a celebration of fitness. triTulsa is a culmination of goals, ambition, dreams and fear !
Ten years ago America was under siege. This weekend, hundreds of athletes from across the Heartland will tuck the memories of 9/11 deep in their heart and will their bodies to reach deep to accomplish new goals and new dreams. We will swim, we will bike, we will run, we will prosper !
triTulsa is a beginner friendly race. Many of the athletes that will plunge into the water on the weekend of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 are newcomers to the sport of triathlon. However the triTulsa coarse is not easy. In fact it is one of the most difficult courses in the Heartland. There are hills, some steep, some not so bad. The one flat spot on the course is the swim portion and organizers even joke that the lake may even be uphill !
Organizers are expecting over 300 entrants to enter the newly revamped triTulsa and hope that you will take the time to read some of the updates listed below.
Sign up online or at RunnersWorld Tulsa at 43rd & Peoria. |

| Course Description | |
Lake Heyburn ~ The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Adults Swim Course - The swim for both the Sprint and the Olympic distance legs will start from a smooth sandy beach start, in a protective and shallow cove of Lake Heyburn at Sheppard Point.
As of Monday September 5th the deepest part of the swim will be 5-6' deep. We expect very calm water with no waves. No traces of blue green algae have been reported in the lake.
Sprint athletes will swim one loop (0.5 miles or 750 meters). Olympic entrants will do two loops (one mile or 1500 meters). The swim course is flat !
Adult Sprint Bike Course - Sprint cyclists will start in the relatively flat campground area, Then bike riders will turn onto hilly country roads leading to Hwy 33. Sprint cyclists will turn around before HWY 33.
Roads surfaces will be both paved asphalt and chip and seal. This is not a draft legal race and all cyclists must obey all traffic laws. There will be a race official on the course. There will not be any time cutoffs for the Sprint triathlon.
Adult Olympic Bike Course - The Olympic bikers will also start in the flat campground area, then ride on the hilly country roads leading to HWY 33. Olympic athletes will then go east on HWY 33 and turn around before the I-44 Toll Plaza.
HWY 33 received a brand new layer of asphalt within the last month and is very smooth with wide shoulders. Ninety five percent of HWY 33 is either uphill or downhill and will test the stamina of all entrants.
Adult Sprint and Olympic Run Course - Sprint entrants will complete one circuit of the run course and Olympic athletes will do two circuits.
The run course will also be hilly and the turnaround will be in the opposite direction of the bike courses. The run will be on chip and seal country roads. There will be one aid station on the course serving both water and Gatorade. The course will be well marked.
Kids Triathlon Course - The kids events will all be timed. The kids courses will all be different depending on age. Kids will swim along the shoreline.
