Dear Brethren
As I prepare to enter the hospital this Friday for major surgery, please join with me in praying for the following needs.
Just weeks ago, Bright (last name withheld for his protection), pictured above with me, returned from an extremely dangerous trip into Northern Nigeria to bring relief and comfort, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to thousands of Christians who have had their homes and churches burned down. Many of their family members have been killed by Muslims, seeking to drive them out of their homelands where their forefathers have lived for centuries. I cannot show you the photos of the atrocities that have been committed in ruthless slaughter of innocent men, women, and children. Bright leaves his dear wife and their two children for a month at a time 2-3 times a year to bring what relief and help that he can. Many of you have helped Bright to bring this much needed help and love in the past. Bright is planning to return back to this dangerous area in two weeks to bring more help to our family in Jesus Christ.
Would you prayerfully consider helping our dear brethren in Nigeria. Bright is one of the most godly and faithful men I have ever known. He often attends our board meetings. He will personally deliver your gift of love to help our Christian brethren buy food, clothing, and medical care. Bright is also trying to relocate some of the most devastated families further South where they will be safe from further attacks. Gifts can be designated for "Nigeria Christians" or for "Bright." We will forward 100% of your gift to Bright for him to personally present to our brethren.
"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. Our brother Joshua (photo above), as some of you know, has an extraordinary ministry to orphans, children and young adults, widows, and all the poor in his region. He and his wife Abigail are powerfully and clearly proclaiming our Lord Jesus Christ to his entire tribal region. They are located in the remote rural area of Kenya known as Miwani, about 1 1/2 hour drive East of Lake Victoria. I have been blessed to see on several trips the great impact they are having on this entire region. Joshua also has a call from the Lord to take the gospel outside his nation. A few years ago he was nearly killed in Tanzania when Muslims attacked him and beat him nearly to death. Last year he traveled to Rwanda and also Ethiopia. On the 15th of this month he plans to return to Ethiopia to minister to the saints in that dangerous nation suffering greatly from Muslim aggression. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with Joshua on this journey to bring comfort and encouragement to our brethren, and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to that nation. Our dear brother, Pastor Naviri David and his new wife Jhansi, in Andhra Pradesh, India. I have known this good shepherd for several years. Several hundred precious Indian congregations of very poor Christians, with godly pastors like brother David, are receiving some help from the donors of In Jesus' Name Ministries.
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything." 1 John 3:16-20 (NIV)

On March 3, Pastor Naviri David wrote the following to my office:
Dear Brother in Christ Court Wood,
By the Grace of God my gospel campaign to Vishakapatnam is done well. We visited many places and prayed to God for a number of people. We also distributed tracts, on the roads and to college students and the main center places of the city. Some people rejected to receive and some people after reading it tore up the tracts in our face. Yet we were tolerant and bore up in anticipation in the Lord that surely the spirit of God shall seize their deeper conscience.
"We glorify in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed.." Romans 5:3-5
We praise God that later some people contacted me, and have made phone calls to me that they are very happy to comprehend the message of the tracts and a few people wanted personally to meet me. We thank God for the reaping witnessing. I do not count any humiliations or insults before what Jesus Christ has by his experience showed to us.
