Easter - The suffering Christians of Pakistan - A Christian Holocoust

Christian brother with broken wrist

This brother is a very poor Christian in Pakistan who was severely beaten by his debtors because of his inability to repay a loan on time. Poor Christians in the Muslim and Hindu countries are often loaned money at very high interest rates which can be practically impossible to repay.

This Easter as Sandy and I were worshiping the Lord, I received the following text message and scripture from one of our principle contacts inside Pakistan:

"To our American Christian brethren, Shalom! May the resurrection of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST be a source of blessing to you and your families. Please do remember our brethren in prayer at this event of Easter - those who are oppressed, poor, and persecuted.  WE PRAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED EASTER!   'I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.'" Philippians 1:3-6

When I received word of this brothers broken wrist I could easily imagine myself in his position. As most of you know, I badly fractured my right wrist a few months ago. I am deeply grateful to the Lord for all of you that have been praying for me. I did not realize how long a recovery this would be, and how painful. But as well as the prayers of the saints, I have had wonderful medical care, including emergency room care, excellent surgeons, pain medication, follow-up therapy and doctor visits. This dear saint in Pakistan has had only basic setting of fractures, with little or no medication or follow-up care. And he cannot afford the minimal care he has received. We are sending help to this brother, but there are so many in his same situation. Would you join with us in getting help to this brother and our brethren in Pakistan. Christ is suffering in those who love Him. There are many urgent needs for the our Christian brethren in Pakistan.

Just a few hours ago we received this encouraging email from the Philippines.

"Dear Dad Court, Mom Sandy, Sister Carol and our American family in Christ!

Greetings to you today. We are so excited to share what the Lord has accomplished here in the Philippines.

Today we have just had our resurrection Sunday service. Unexpectedly, people who we had not seen for a long time, and some who had stopped going to church, showed interest in attending the church and were touched by the presence of God as we sang the song "Because He lives" after the worship service. Some were in such a great emotion being touched by God. Please pray that the people will not just be stirred emotionally, but will continue to serve God passionately.

We had a mime drama on the resurrection of Christ which we will also present in our youth meetings in the coming days. Please pray with us for the anointing to rest upon this drama team. This reinforced the message this morning which Pastor Lito Ereso has delivered. Please pray with us for the impact which will be brought through the drama team.

The church was packed from wall to wall. More than 400 people came. People were so excited worshiping the Lord. The presence of God has been so electrifying. Please pray for movement of God's Holy Spirit here among the communities we are reaching and serving, even from under the bridge and slum villages.

Once again, thank you for such great help that you have sent to us. Because of this, we were able to feed the poor brethren with a simple breakfast meal as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. We were also able to send some help to our tribal pastors and our brethren at the Smokey Mountain church (at the garbage dump). We were able to demonstrate God's love by giving them food and clothing, as well as touching the poor children with the compassion of our Lord.

May God bless you today. In Jesus Christ, Alex and Emma"

The following message just arrived from our director in India

"To our dear brethren in America. Grace and peace unto you from our Lord Jesus Christ. All the members of your Indian family are doing fine and we do hope all the goodness and mercy to you from our Savior Christ Jesus.

Today is the day of Easter to us and we wish you all the blessings of Resurrection from our Risen Savior Jesus Christ. We had a nice Easter Sunday Service in our Church, and we are filled with the new hope of resurrection with glorious bodies at His coming.

All our church members, orphan children, widows, lepers, rock crushers and others under our care are doing well. They are all very grateful to you all. You are in our hearts and prayers and we thank you for your loving kindness and generous help to the Body of Christ in India. May God bless you with the riches of His glory.

With love, George and Dorothy

Easter Greetings from our brethren in Kenya

Dear Beloved in Christ Jesus,

Victory at last! Our Lord Jesus is risen! This is the power we have over other religions and faiths.

The blood that was shed at Calvary is enough and final. We are now more than over comers. Christ our Lord, the Alpha and Omega has overcome the world.

It is my prayer that even in the midst of the trials and temptations we all face, the Lord will have us stay focused on His victory.

God bless you

John 15:17; 17:23

"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:10-15
