Recently our Kenyan co-worker, and brother in Christ, Joshua Atieno, had recovered from Malaria. Now again he is seriously ill. We received word on Monday that he had lost consciousness near his home, and had been taken to the closest hospital in Kisumu, 45 minutes away.
On Wednesday I spoke with him briefly on the phone and he could hardly talk. He was suffering from an allergic reaction which was causing his throat to swell and making it difficult to breath.
Yesterday the doctors at the government hospital gave up on his case and said they could not help him further. (Government hospitals in Kenya have minimal staff, and poorly trained doctors.) He transferred to a private hospital yesterday evening, and today when I called him he sounded somewhat improved. The doctors in the private hospital have been able to give medicine to counter the allergic reaction. They told Joshua and his wife Abigail that he had been close to death when he arrived at the private hospital.
Please pray for this dear brother and his dear wife Abigail who are so effectively reaching their nation for Christ.
