Sister Leyamma, center in white Sari with Bible with some of the widows
Dear Brethren

In just a few hours I will be leaving for India and Bangladesh to be with some of the poorest Christians in the world. They are not poor because they are lazy, or not gifted. They are some of the hardest working people I have ever met in my life. And they are extremely talented and bright. They are a beautiful people.
They are poor because they have been economic slaves for 3,000 years under the tyranny of Hinduism. They are the so called "low caste" of India. The gospel of Jesus Christ is setting them free, but as Christians, they face intensified persecution and rejection among their countrymen.
I will be visiting scores of village congregations, and they all have great physical needs. There is one congregation I need to share with you.
It is a group of widows cared for by Sister Leyamma. I have know sister Leyamma for nearly ten years. She is an elderly widow with no sons. She cares for many widows in her area, and also encourages the young pastors working in the nearby tribal areas. He health is not good.
Last year we received some help to begin construction of a house/church for her. She has lived for years in a tiny roadside home which we would consider not big enough for a shed in our back yard.
The new home and church is almost complete but lacks about $2000 to finish. I received the following letter a few weeks ago from Sister Leyamma.
"Dear father Court and mummy Sandy, Greetings to you in the most holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming soon. How are you? How is your health?
Dad, I wanted to mention one thing that , before you come to India, I wanted to finish the house/church construction so that you will inaugurate the house/church. The house is incomplete. Please pray for encouragement for me so that I can be able to finish the house. .
Father Just I wanted to pour out my heart before you. Please try to understand me.
Father I have no son, no husband, no relatives, and no parents. How can I live? There are a few widows living with me, how difficult it is to live in India at present. Dad please try to understand my situation and pray for me.
May the Lord use us to bless one another. May the Lord reward you. Thanking you with love. Sister Leyamma."
Photos are of Sister Leyamma with some of the widows, and young people she is helping. And with Brook Frick, during Brook's visit to India a few years ago.

Please pray that Sister Leyamma will see her prayers answered.
Gratefully yours in the unfailing love of Jesus Christ our Lord,
Court and Sandy
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command."
Our Lord Jesus Christ John 15:9-14
