Flu Shots for Seasonal Influenza

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending vaccination for seasonal influenza for everyone eligible to receive it, especially children ages 6 months to 5 years, adults over 65, health care workers, and those people with chronic illnesses who are at high risk for complications.

We recommend vaccination for the seasonal flu in the next 4-12 weeks, especially if you would like to receive the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available, we recommend you get the seasonal flu vaccine this month.

Remember that the seasonal flu vaccine does not prevent all types of flu, only those expected to be most prevalent this flu season. Continue to practice prevention:
  • Wash hands frequently or use antibacterial gels
  • Avoid touching hands to face
  • Get plenty of rest, fresh air and exercise
  • Stay home if you develop signs of the flu such as fever, sore throat and cough
