Feature Article
Romancing Your Wallet
By Belinda Fuchs, President, OwnYourMoney.com
A holiday like Valentine's Day draws attention to the personal relationships in our life. If you're part of a couple, the pressure to celebrate your relationship is intense. If not, the pressure to get into one may seem unbearable. Either way, the common culture of Valentine's Day emphasizes spending, on a significant other or yourself. Why not take the pressure off and re-focus?
Following are some suggestions for a Valentine's Day that's all about love . . . for yourself, your partner and your money.
For couples:
- Budget gourmet: treat each other to a romantic, gourmet meal at home; agree on a single splurge item, and build a simple but elegant meal around it. Or, if "romantic dinner" and "at home" simply don't co-exist for you, check out Restaurant.com to get up to 60% off a restaurant meal.

Success Stories
We are so proud of our OYM Clubs, especially this month! While many people may have already forgotten their New Year's resolutions, our support system is in full effect - for women and for entrepreneurs - and they are getting huge results! This month the two groups made or saved over $26,500 with only a $150 monthly investment per person!
Here are a few examples:

Karen went after a new job, believing that she could find something that would fit her vision and would pay her what she is worth in the marketplace. With the OYM Club support and her accountability partner (her "money buddy"), she realized that the opportunity just offered to her was exactly what she had been wanting and she really did deserve it! The results - A raise of $7/hour for the first 3-months and then an additional increase of $2.50/hour after. In the first year, that is an $18,500 raise!
Lauren committed to calling her credit card company and getting a rate reduction. Her money buddy Kim called to support her to meet her timeline before our Club call. Lauren then called and got an interest rate reduction of 5.5%. Kim was so inspired by Lauren's action that she called and got her own interest rate reduced too! If you want your own support and results (not just resolutions), read below to "Join the Club". You'll want to join by January 31st (and get a bonus fast-track call) or you'll have to wait until April to start with the group.

What January's graduates are saying:
"The seminar was excellent and really inspiring!" ~ Karla, Youth Worker
"I was inspired that so many women of varying degrees of wealth, age and knowledge shared such similar belief systems around money. Although the self-talk was tough to hear - people being so awful and negative to themselves - we all recognized it was not true and did great turnarounds! GO US!" ~ Katie, Admin Assistant
"The importance of a specific inspiration was an "aha" moment. I always knew goals were important but the inspiration helps with the stick-to-it-ness." ~ Wendy, Advertising Executive

OYM Tip
Your Credit Report and Credit Score
Many questions have come in recently asking about how to get your credit report and score for free. Here is your answer:
Go to www.AnnualCreditReport.com to get your detailed credit report for free. You can get it for free from each of the three credit reporting agencies (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax) annually. We suggest you run one from each every 4 months. Each time, review the report and contact all three of the agencies to make any corrections. SAVE MONEY by NOT buying the individual reporting agencies reports, as they each have their own scoring system which does not agree with your "FICO score".
Go to www.MyFICO.com to pay and get the widely-used and regarded "FICO" or Fair Isaac Company's credit score. Your credit score is generated by a mathematical algorithm and affects your ability to get the best rates on your mortgage, credit cards, and may even affect your next job offer!
BONUS - Get your credit score (not just report) for free by contacting an agency that has recently run your credit report, such as when you have applied for a mortgage, refinancing, or credit card.
Read more on how credit scores work and how your score is calculated.
