Having complications with Shorts Sales and HAFA?
NAR has created an email for members to report specific examples of problems they are facing with lenders. These e-mails will be collected and used in ongoing discussions with lenders and the Treasury Department. You may send an e-mail detailing experiences to HAFA@realtors.org.

IRS 1099 Reporting
The health care legislation enacted earlier this year included a new requirement, effective 2012, that would require all businesses to provide IRS 1099 information returns to any vendor when the business makes payments of more than $600 to the vendor in any calendar year. Many REALTOR organizations are aware that ASAE is among the groups opposing the new rule. NAR has signed on to the ASAE letter to signal its opposition to the 1099 reporting requirement. More here...

FHA Update:

FHA Refis for Underwater Borrowers
FHA has launched a refinancing program to assist homeowners who owe more on their mortgages than their home is worth.  Beginning Sept. 7, the agency will offer qualified non-FHA borrowers the opportunity to refinance with an FHA-insured mortgage on their primary residence.  Borrowers must be current on their existing mortgage, qualify under FHA underwriting requirements, and have a credit score of at least 500.  The first lien holder must agree to write off at least 10 percent of the remaining amount owed under the mortgage, bringing the combined loan-to-value ratio of all mortgages to no more than 115 percent. The LTV for the new FHA mortgage may not exceed 97.75 percent.  The Treasury Department will provide incentives to second lien holders who agree to forgive all or part of their liens.

TREND UPDATE:

WANT LISTINGS DESELECTED ON REPORTS? CHANGE YOUR PREFERENCES
In June TREND released new MLS preferences that allow you to decide how to manage your "listing selection" process with our new interactive maps and the MLS. At the same time, they also released interactive maps into Public Records. The following are the new preferences that were added and what their defaults are:
· Search results selected by default: This preference lets you decide whether or not all of your results will be automatically selected or deselected. The default for this preference is: YES
· Show map by default: NO
· Print individual map (on client reports only): YES
· Print map of all listings: NO
The addition of these preferences will improve your report workflow and allow you to customize the MLS to work the way you want. When viewing your results in public records, all of your listings will be automatically deselected. This functionality has not changed.
