Spanish biotech firms Biotecnol and Digna Biotech have entered into an exclusive license and option agreement with Genentech a wholly-owned member of the Roche Group.  Under the terms of the agreement, Genentech grants the Spanish firm rights of using patents Genentech owns and controls to develop and commercialize Cardiotrophin-1 Proteins for potential use in certain liver indications.  More...

Clairvoyant Energy, a Spain-based rooftop solar panel manufacturer and developer, will partner with Xtreme Power, a Texas-based energy storage manufacturer, to buy Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant, which closed in 2007, in Michigan. The project would have a $725 million starting budget.  More...

Iberdrola Renewables Receives Grant for Green Projects

Iberdrola Renewables, a world leader in renewable power sources, was recently granted nearly $300 million for five wind-power projects in four different states.  Two of the largest individual projects granted funding included the Peņascal Wind Farm in Sarita, Texas, and the Locust Ridge II Wind Farm in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania.  More...

Xcel Energy and Abengoa Solar Build Integrated Solar Thermal Plant
Abengoa Solar, a green energy company based in Colorado, has partnered with Xcel Energy, a U.S. company, to build an experimental parabolic trough concentrating solar power plant at a coal plant near Grand Junction, Colorado.  The project is one of the first to integrate an industrial solar installation into a conventional electrical power plant.  More...
Mecasolar, a Spain-based solar tracker and panel manufacturer, is building a production plant in San Francisco, California.  The new facility will be used to manufacture 1 and 2-axis solar trackers, and will be running at full capacity in the first quarter of 2010.  Mecasolar, which currently has a sales office in San Francisco, presented their new Fixed Structures product at the Intersolar 2009 trade show.  More...
 
Because of official support for renewable energy, Spain is steadily becoming an innovative and sustainable economy, with green jobs increasing year by yearly.  According to studies done by Spain-based companies, Acciona and Iberdrola, by 2030 more than 600,000 new jobs related to renewable power sources will exist.  More...

Spanish political and business representatives will host a group of U.S. political leaders from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Iowa, Arkansas, Texas and Washington from September 20 to 26.  The trip's main purpose is to experience first-hand the Spanish high-speed railway system, including operating high-speed trains (AVE) and rail companies, ADIF, Renfe and Talgo.  More...

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) awarded Telvent, the Spain-based IT company, a $1.5 million valued contract to implement an Open Road Tolling (ORT) system at the Hampton Mainline Toll Plaza in New Hampshire.  Telvent will implement a dedicated two-by-two lane ORT system in one of New Hampshire's busiest toll plazas located on Interstate 95.  More...

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials executed a comprehensive development agreement (CDA) with the LBJ Infrastructure Group, led by the Spain-based infrastructure corporation, Cintra, to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain the 13-mile LBJ-635 corridor in Dallas County.  More...
