new video: youth suicide |
5-part series provides in-depth look at youth suicide
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youths aged 10 to 24. Recently, researchers found that only 26% of teens thinking about suicide received mental health treatment. Parents, teachers and mental health professionals need to learn how to identify the warning signs and prevent youth suicide.
For our latest On-Demand Video series, Charles W. Mathias, Ph.D., and Arielle H. Sheftall, Ph.D., provide a comprehensive review of the following:
- Risk factors for suicide
- Theories of suicidal behavior
- Non-suicidal self-injury
- Treatment options for self-harm among youth
