Breathe In Calm
Whenever you find yourself stressed, upset, or tired, notice your breathing.
Most likely you are shallow breathing in your chest. Since your body and mind are connected, when you take in a complete, full breath, your mind and body relaxes.
Respiration, has the root word, Spir as in "Spirit", like "Inspire." Inspiration comes from Spirit, your Higher Power. Therefore when you breathe, know you are connecting to Spirit. Your awareness alone, will give you great comfort.
And, when you breathe correctly, you will find not only immediate calmness, but these benefits as well:
· Release chronic muscular tensions around the heart and
digestive ogans
· Dramatically reduces emotional and nervous anxiety
· Improves detoxification, increased exchange of carbon dioxide
and oxygen
· Strengthens your auto immune system
· Increases energy to the endocrine system
Try this Diaphragmatic breathing exercise to integrate into your daily life:Sit or lie comfortably, with loose garments.
- Put one hand on your chest and one on your stomach.
- Slowly inhale through your nose.
- As you inhale, feel your stomach expand with your hand.
- Slowly exhale through pursed lips to regulate the release of air (like you are going to whistle, to slow down the intake of breath. )
- Breathe out in a slower, more relaxed way. Breathing out
should take twice as much time as breathing in. You can count four breaths in, and eight breaths out, or whatever number you are comfortable breathing. - Simply relax and let the air flow out. Do not force the air out because that increase your blood pressure.
- Rest and repeat.
Over time, you will change your breathing patterns to help you stay relaxed.
Heart Breathing for a Deeper Connection to Your Higher Power Heart breathing is a wonderful way to feel love (Your Higher Power). Use the diaphramatic exercise above and simply breathe into your heart, and exhale through your heart.
Or, breathe in a light (white or yellow) through your crown chakra (top of your head), and exhale through your heart.
Love, Light and Blessings,
