Winning the War Inside YouWe all have conflicts going on inside. One minute you feel great, on top of the world, the next minute, it may feel the world is crashing down on you.
This is why it is so important to meditate, and to practice Mindfulness, to stay in the moment. Do this in the morning before you go out in the world and have to deal.
We have given workshops to prison management in California and Arizona, including a Swat team, and one of the questions and a fear that came up, is, "If I meditate or practice Mindfulness, won't that take me away from being alert because I will be so relaxed?" Great question since they are dealing with inmates and life-threatening situations daily. But even our stress in ordinary life is life-threatening because it causes diseases.
Our answer? When you meditate and use mindfulness, you are more alert, because you eliminate and dissolve negative thoughts, the drama and endless false stories we tell ourselves which distract us from our tasks. You are also more clear and able to have deep insight, intuition and can choose the best way to handle challenges quickly. Meditation, especially keeps your mind focused and sharp.
