WAITING ON LOVE?
"Happiness is equal to one's capacity to love" -Lester Levenson
This is the time of the year many people feel lonely, and cut off from love. The holiday season is upon us, and now advertising will bombard us with the picture perfect family ads and loving relationships.
No matter what kind of relationships you are in, or not in, feeling loved is an internal feeling. It doesn't come from outside of you.
All you have to do is look at the tragic lives of celebrities. Many are loved by millions around the world, but they overdose, or take their own lives.
A friend once said, "You can be the loneliest person in the world lying in the bed next to someone."
So how do we get love?
The answer is not to "get" love from anyone. People will always disappoint you because they are human. You can be loved by them one moment, and in a hate relationship with them the next.
Underneath all of those unloving feelings we have toward people, and anything in the world including paying taxes, bills or illness, is love. This love is not sexual and fleeting. It's the deepest, peaceful feeling you can ever imagine. It sustains and comforts you. This deep internal love is healing.
It's not coming from outside of yourself. We were all born with this love and the capacity to give love. It's simply covered over by such thoughts as: fear, anger, jealousy, exhaustion, self-hatred, and the list goes on and on.
To feel love, you need to be loving.
So, if you want love, give it to everyone and everything, especially yourself. When you give it to yourself first, it's easier to give love to others. Why is love the greatest force in the universe? It's your Higher Power.
