Listening to our school principal emphasize the importance of reading at a meeting with parents about the second grade curriculum, naturally I couldn't help but think about my son, The Anti-Reader. He's above grade level, mind you, but he's still all about resistance and procrastination. The other night, after I asked Adam about five times to begin his reading, I found him instead tossing a pink bouncy ball in the air. "Well?" I barked. "I am T-H-I-N-K-I-N-G!" he responded, indignant at my nudging. At least he can S-P-E-L-L.
