Our Camp Fair season kicks off this weekend on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side! If you want to know more about day camps or sleep-away camps, we encourage you and your children to come to our free and fun camp fairs and meet over 30 program directors. Special Invite - Gifted Education: A Parent-Led Seminar On "What's Right For My Child? What Are The Options (Public and Private) in the Gifted Arena?" On Tuesday, November 15, from 6:30 to 8pm, New York Family Editor Eric Messinger will be moderating a panel in which elementary school parents at many of the top "Gifted & Talented" programs in the city (i.e. Hunter, Andersen, Nest, Lab, Speyer, etc.) will offer their perspectives on district-wide, city-wide, public and private options in G&T Education. Tempt your tastebuds at the 14th Annual New York Chocolate Show at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Watch cooking demos by fine chocolatiers while little ones play in the Kids Zone. (Thursday-Sunday)

 

The New-York Historical Society re-opens to the public after a three-year transformation. Experience all the additions, including the brand new DiMenna Children's History Museum that engages tots as detectives. (Friday)

 

The Children's Museum of Manhattan has an interactive new exhibit to explore. At EatSleepPlay, kids can discover cool features like crawling through a giant digestive system. (Friday-Sunday)

 

It's the opening weekend of the Canstruction Exhibit at the World Financial Center. There, you'll see surprising sculptures constructed out of 100,000 cans of food. Be kind and bring an item to donate to City Harvest! (Friday-Sunday)

 

Honor Veterans Day by viewing the Dignity Memorial� Vietnam Wall at the Intrepid. Families can commemorate those who lost their lives in the War while the Wall is on display in Manhattan for the first time ever. (Friday)

 

Bend it like Beckham at the Veterans Day Super Soccer Stars Mini Camp. Kids ages 2 1/2 - 5 can get active with soccer games and crafts. Oh, and let's not forget snack time! (Friday)  

 

The sugary characters of the Lolli-Pops make new music go down sweet. Dressed up as members of the orchestral family, they'll perform pieces during A Happy Family at The Little Orchestra Society. (Saturday-Sunday)

 

The Queens County Farm Museum abounds with animal-themed activities during its Wildlife Weekend, where kids can experience pony rides--plus, animal feedings and shows. (Saturday-Sunday)

 

Celebrate the New York Botanical Garden's beautiful woodlands with a weekend of tree-climbing demos, canoeing on the Bronx River and nature walks at the Thain Family Forest Dedication. (Saturday-Sunday)

 

This week, the New Dads Boot Camp, brought to you by the NYC Dads Group and Tribeca Parenting, hits Tribeca. You'll gain valuable resources for connecting with baby. (Saturday)

 

Rock it out with Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights at Symphony Space as she sings kid-approved songs about sunglasses and popcorn! (Saturday)

 

Harry Potter fans, don't miss the Quidditch World Cup on Randall's Island. More than 2,000 caped, broom-riding athletes will compete in a tournament (complete with live owl demos and wizardly gear for sale!). (Saturday-Sunday)

 

Meet Ms. Frizzle at the Liberty Science Center and learn about everything from volcanoes to the human body while in a real (not-so magic) school bus. (Saturday)

Become an artist at the Strand Family Hour with author/illustrator, Roxie Munro. Munro, whose work has been featured on more than 10 New Yorker covers, will lead kids in a step-by-step workshop on how to draw their favorite dinos. (Saturday)

 

Bring the whole clan (pets included) to the Second Annual Family Day at Citi Pond in Bryant Park. Enjoy a full day of face painting, live entertainment, and a reading of Christmas Feet. The first 100 kids receive free skate rentals! (Saturday)

 

Create a communal poem (plus, other artwork) at  The Travelers Family Workshop, held at the Museum of Chinese in America. Families are encouraged share their life experiences and discover diversity. (Saturday)

 

Introduce wee ones to the world of classical music at Le Poisson Rouge's Baby Got Bach, which features pianist Orli Shaham and allows kids to play instruments during the BackStage Up Front portion of the event. (Sunday)

 

For a feel-good show, Bring Your Own Kids to the  Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could concert at 92Y Tribeca. (Sunday)

 

Celebrate a renowned author and illustrator during the Ezra Jack Keats Family Day at the Jewish Museum. Enjoy live music, readings and an art project inspired by Keats, of course! (Sunday)

 

Explore Italian culture at the Guggenheim's Fall Family Day. Kids can go on a scavenger hunt and attend a musical performance. (Sunday)

 

Let little limber ones try a Free Kids Yoga Class at Yoga Stars. They can stretch their way to positive thinking through music, picture books and beginner poses. (Sunday)
