Weekend Plans & More

Have we got a fun and festive Halloween weekend for you! Featuring over 50 events all over the city--from pumpkin chucking in Queens to painting the fall fruit at your local TD Bank to a spooktacular at the Seaport--there's spooky soirees and neighborhood parades for every age group this weekend. You supply the adorablely costumed cream puff, we provide the fun. And because we couldn't resist, here's a few of our creepy, crawly favorites:

There's plenty of fun to be had at Central Park's annual Pumpkin Festival, complete with a pick-your-own patch and marionette performances for the wee ones. (Saturday)

Waltz with a woodland creature and explore a Victorian toy parlor at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Ghouls and Gourds. (Saturday)

Celebrate the holiday with cinema at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab's totally free event, Wonderween. Delight in six hours of crafts and kiddie screenings. (Saturday)

Nothing sounds cooler than a parade way up above the ground. Join Halloween Hi-Jinks on The High Line for a costumed march that ends with pumpkins and a dance party. (Sunday)

Gear up for pig races and a haunted house at the fabulous Children's Fall Fest at the Queens County Farm Museum. (Sunday)

Carve a pumpkin and collect candy through the halls of the neatest science hub in town at the American Museum of Natural History's Halloween Celebration.

[SWEET TOOTH GOT YOU DOWN? CHECK OUT THESE NON-HALLOWEEN EVENTS, TOO!]

Any product that adapts to meet your child's needs--saving money in the process--is a total winner, which is why we're thrilled to give one away! To enter, sign up for Born & Bred's free newsletter in the box on the top right of the blog. Then email us by Monday, October 31 at noon, putting "Smart Trike" in the subject line. To increase your chances, leave a comment under one of this blog's posts, or "like" our Facebook page--and indicate you've done so in your email. Good luck!

*92Y is presenting Josh Bernstein--host of History Channel's Digging for the Truth and Discovery Channel's Into the Unknown--in "Around the World in 50 Minutes" on November 20 at 7:30 pm. It's going to be a fun night, especially for older elementary school kids and middle schoolers. Bernstein has flown around the world more than 20 times to explore, travel and learn. Families have much to learn from his worldwide quests. And we have two family 4-packs of tickets to give away! To enter, send us an email explaining why you'd like to win and put "Around the World" in the subject line. Be sure to include your contact info and address.
