We
Need Auction Items |

|
| Last year, the "Keep the Events
Alive" Committee held a largely successful auction to raise money to keep Chimney Hill events going
strong. This year, they will do the same. The
"Keep the Events Alive" Committee is currently accepting donations
for their annual fundraising auction held on Labor Day Weekend. Homeowners wishing to donate
items to this year's auction can drop their item(s) off at the Chimney Hill
Office during operating hours - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through
Saturday. Please no appliances, large furniture or junk that
just isn't good for anything. |
Chimney Hill Reminders
More often than not owners call requesting copies of Chimney Hill documents, ask what the current weather is, wonder what events are going on, etc. Not that we don't like talking to you when you do call but we've tried very hard to have as much information about Chimney Hill and the immediate area at your finger tips - literally! Chimneyhill.com pretty much has it all. Most, if not all, pertinent Chimney Hill documents are posted so that you can download and print them - some you can even fill out right online and email them back to us (no downloading or printing required). The local weather, area events, directions, photos, event results, Clubhouse hours, meeting schedules - just about everything. We've even developed a blog that isn't live yet but it's coming very soon. Please, take the time and make yourselves familiar with our site. And please, after perusing the site, if you don't see something that you think should be there let me know - I'd love to hear from you. Some Chimneyhill.com links:
Chimney Hill and Area Events
Owners Information
This is a great link as it leads to Clubhouse hours, owners documents, meeting schedules, past event photos and competition results and much more.
Area Information This link has the local weather and a few points of interest links.
Directions Another good link. Here you can download a copy of a Chimney Hill map. You can also get directions here through MapQuest for friends and family. Also on this page are local phone numbers for the police and fire departments, the town offices and clerk. Chimney Hill's maintenance department, the Clubhouse, our fax number, our office numbers, etc.
As you can see, we really have tried to cover anything.

Greetings!
We'd like to thank our sponsors, Wilson's Chimney Sweep, DSS Painting, Black Diamond Tree Service, Inc., Aaron's Pest Control, Messer's Diversified Construction and Eddie Charbonneau Painting for sponsoring this newsletter. Summer is right around the corner - I know it is. It is just hiding somewhere, too shy to come out and play.
Ah, the weather. It seems to be the "hot" (no pun intended) topic of conversation. The temperature actually hit 80 and kept climbing yesterday for the first time all summer. Yesterday was the first day all summer that it felt like a real summer day. Honestly, I'm not complaining, I rather like the cooler than average temperatures. It's the rain that seems to have fallen almost every day this summer. On the flip side of things, it could be worse - we could be having the worst drought in centuries.

Chimney Hill Events Landscape Committee's Garden Tour August 8, 2009
 Mark
your calendars. The 2009 Garden Tour & Workshop will be held on
Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Chimney Hill
Clubhouse. Join us for coffee and homemade breakfast goodies, garden
talks and walks. The workshop will include a plant exchange, a popular
feature of past workshops.
All garden tour homeowners will be
"in residence" to answer questions. Gardens include container gardens,
gardens-in-progress, a rock garden, a shrub garden and several lovely
flower gardens. |
What kind of summer would it be if there wasn't road cons truction?
I can answer that - a nice one. No such luck!! Unfortunately, you really can't escape this one no matter which direction you travel in.
At the intersection of Haystack Road and Route 9 there are now 3 traffic lights; 1 for traffic going west, 1 for traffic going east and 1 for traffic exiting Haystack Road onto Route 9. As you can see, a bit of inconvenience for all.
The part of the road that traffic is now avoiding has been noticeably eroding since this spring when the road surface first cracked and half of the eastbound lane sank, leaving a large dip in the road. It has since become much worse leaving no alternative but to close the east side of Route 9 in this particular location.
At this time it remains a mystery as to what is causing the erosion. Engineers won't be able to design a repair for the road until the exact cause is determined. Unfortunately, it is unclear when the road will be fixed and the traffic lights disappear. Some are hopeful it will be fixed before the snow flies.
