It's big news when a world class opera company like New York's Metropolitan Opera creates a new version of Wagner's "Ring Cycle." The Met opened their new version of the first opera in the cycle, Das Rheingold, last fall and made extensive use of battery operated lighting controlled by SHoW DMX. We interviewed the Met's Tony Giovonetti to see how they did it.

There are thousands of students studying technical theater production and lighting, scenic, costume, and sound design at universities all over the U.S. Each year we get to see some of them at the United States Institute for Theatre Technology's stage expo.
