Greetings!

Share your arts education success story!

This week is National Arts in Education Week.  If you follow us on Facebook, you've noticed in honor of the week we've been highlighting the Nebraskans for the Arts' campaign, Arts Advantage. It is a unique initiative collecting stories showing the importance the arts can have for successful professionals.

The campaign website's magic happens when YOU share your own story.  For instance, you and others from your community can share your stories locally with policy makers if your school's arts education is under fire.  The more stories added, the stronger the case made for why arts should be supported by our state's schools.

Sharing your story is simple.  Just fill out the "Success Stories" form.  If you know some one who SHOULD tell their story, please forward them to the site.  Watch the below, brief video for an example of one of our campaign's first stories.

Though Cyndi's story above was captured on video, the stories you submit will be in written form.  If you DO happen to have a video or photo of yourself to share, please e-mail it to [email protected] .

The goal of the campaign and website, sponsored in part by the Cooper Foundation, is to share and collect anecdotal research of how arts education has a positive affect on professional lives.  We know cultivating creative skill and spirit are crucial for 21st century jobs, and students with a background and engagement in the arts have an advantage in so many ways.  By perusing the website, you'll see stories of successful adults, in and out of artistic fields, crediting a portion of their success to their training in the arts.

Also, Nebraskans for the Arts can be a resource to you and your community.  Is your school district in danger of cutting the arts? If so, check out the site's toolkit, for ways our advocacy network can help through the Arts Advantage campaign.

Let's keep the arts STRONG in our schools - celebrate Arts in Education Week with us and share your story.

Sincerely,
Marjorie Maas, Director
