Welcome to the May Issue of Vibrant Northeast Ohio...
Over the past month, the NEOSCC has attracted attention from The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Vindicator, Akron Beacon Journal, The Canton Repository, The Chronicle Telegram and TV stations in Youngstown, as well as being featured on Ideastream's Sound of Ideas. This coverage has begun to amplify our work and focus across the region as well as brought a great deal of interest and support. Our This is What Vibrant Looks Like Young Leader events in Akron, Youngstown, Lorain and Stark Counties has launched our engagement efforts with some very dynamic conversations.
As we head into the summer, we are preparing our Conditions and Trends Platform. This dialogue platform will begin our conversation externally on the findings and data of the existing conditions and trends in key areas within the Northeast Ohio region. More than just a report, the Platform will be an interactive dynamic web tool that will continue to be built upon throughout our work together. A framework to inspire action by evaluating information, gathering additional insight and building our common base of knowledge.
Most importantly, the C & T Platform will be the baseline for launching our dialogue throughout the region with residents, businesses, government officials and YOU! We look forward to sharing the Platform at our June 26th Board Meeting in Youngstown.
Also in this issue we share our new You Tube channel dedicated to NEOSCC and Vibrant Northeast Ohio.

This is What Vibrant Looks Like: Young Leader Events
Over the last month, we have conducted four sessions (Akron, Youngstown, Stark and Lorain Counties) with Young leaders across the region. These interactive evenings have tackled what it means - and what we need - to build a vibrant community. The dialogue each evening has featured a great passion and interest in the future of individual communities as well as Northeast Ohio.
With the help of Civic Commons, these events have been fantastic in setting the tone for all of our engagement moving forward.
At each event, we have offered eight different ways the Young Leaders can get involved right now (click to find out more.) We have also pledged to meet with these groups every quarter throughout the rest of the project. Another round of young leader events will begin in late July as part of our public engagement schedule.
Our last event in this initial series will occur next week in Cleveland:

Coming together to create a vibrant Northeast Ohio:
The Northeast Ohio Sustainable Communities Consortium (NEOSCC) is focused on advancing a quality, connected twelve-county region amidst today's economic climate and stretched resources.
Through a diverse group of member organizations and region-wide engagement, the NEOSCC will develop concrete plans while fostering collaboration and capacity for action.
The aim of all of these efforts is to create a vibrant and resilient Northeast Ohio that increases our quality of life; connects our communities; welcomes diversity; restores and protects our natu ral resources; and creates a competitive economic framework for the vitality of our region.
The NEOSCC is a three-year planning program funded largely by a highly competitive, first of its kind, $4.25M federal grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as part of the new federal Sustainable Communities Initiative. The Sustainable Communities Initiative is an interagency collaboration among HUD, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The NEOSCC has also received a matching program grant of $500,000 from the Fund for our Economic Future. Its 32 consortium member organizations have pledged over $2.35 M of in-kind match in the form of staff time and operating expense contributions. The initiative has also attracted over 100 other organizations through the 12 counties to participate.
