Finally, K.Tek's Web Technology Consultant, Joe Muscolina brings expertise in Internet technology and Sales that position him to serve as an ally to businesses needing better ways to improve their efficiency in a profit yielding and cost effective manner. The new additions to the K.Tek team augment the trust worthy and reliable key personnel K.Tek has always employed.
K.Tek Systems has begun utilizing social media platforms to afford us the opportunity to showcase the power of web-based technologies by disseminating relevant and educational information on various technology topics. Plans for the development of a K.Tek Systems Blog are underway to further educate and encourage interaction between the business community and K.Tek staff.

Social Media Tip of the Month: Media Maven - Generating Leads

You can't escape it. Social media networks are everywhere and promise to provide a variety of tools for marketers and business development directors alike. There's no denying that social media networks afford businesses the opportunity to engage with customers, prospects and the community by way of an interactive and informal experience. Once accomplished, the challenge then becomes how to use those established social media parameters to generate leads without creating hostility amongst those relationships. Generating leads effectively from social media marketing means creating a perceived benefit for your product/service and is critical in the "no selling allowed" culture. People do not want to be "sold to" regardless of whether it's done through a form of media or in person. The key lies in establishing the perception that your product/service provides a "must have" benefit. How do you position your business as "irresistible" to a consumer via social media? Keep these tips and tactics in mind:
- First, create awareness of your education-based content. This is valuable to your consumer and should be housed on your website (or wherever you've established your main online presence). Content sharing and engagement establishes trust so that you can then market to your social media network.
- Second, engage and meet your community through social media networks. Then, use this platform to lead to content elsewhere, presenting the opportunity to buy (or utilize your services) and ultimately turn prospects into revenue-generating "evangelists" of your brand.
- Most importantly, equate your social media interaction with a headline for an advertisement. It's something that's not designed for a hard, direct sale. Rather, it's an opportunity to educate, engage, and build trust and awareness of your business. The key to your social media success - create the perception of value in your brand to engage your community and ultimately, generate leads.

Winners were chosen based on various criteria involving Revenue Growth, Community Achievement as well as Business Achievement. This distinction is not industry specific or given only to women-owned businesses making the achievement solely based on our merits, setting us apart from other businesses across multiple industries. An award ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 22nd from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club. K.Tek's CEO, Kimberly During and our Web Technology Consultant, Joe Muscolina represented our company at this event. As philanthropic members of the community, K.Tek's commitment to clients since 1993 is steadfast and has led to a 98% client retention rate which truly means that the real credit for this award goes to the wonderful clients we've had the privilege of working with for almost two decades! K.Tek Systems is proud to announce that our CEO, Kimberly During has been chosen as a finalist for the 2011 Tampa Bay Business Journal's BusinessWoman of the Year Award. While a record breaking 360 applicants were nominated for this accolade, only fifty-two were selected by a distinguished panel of judges. Finalists were named in eight categories and selected based upon information provided detailing their overall business philosophy, accomplishments, and community involvement. The Tampa Bay Business Journal poignantly asked nominees to provide their personal experiences with mentorship, employee and client relationships, and most importantly how they overcome obstacles in dealing with adversity. "As in life, the business world is not without challenges, yet it is how we deal with those hardships that truly define who we are as business leaders," said Kimberly During.
A black-tie gala affair will be held to honor all of the finalists on Friday, August 19th at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida. Each of the finalists will be recognized on stage while a winner is announced in each category. As each finalist crosses the stage, a video interview will play briefly showcasing their individual business achievements. Of the category winners, an overall winner will then be announced and named the 2011 BusinessWoman of the Year. Kimberly has been selected as a finalist in the Technology category for her unique contribution to the field which spans almost two decades.
Additionally, a cocktail reception, presented by the Award sponsors, is scheduled to be held at Neiman Marcus at International Plaza in Tampa honoring the finalists on August 4th. The entire team at K.Tek Systems is extremely proud that their CEO has been chosen as a finalist to receive this award. Kimberly notes, "I am so humbled to be selected as a finalist to receive the Tampa Bay Business Journal's 2011 BusinessWoman of the Year award. The award recognizes Tampa Bay's brightest female leaders and I am fortunate to have the privilege of being selected as part of this elite group."
