Next Trail Workday is Saturday, March 10
Please join us Saturday morning, March 10 and help clear a section of the proposed E&A Rail Trail. We'll meet in the parking lot to the right of the Recreation Center at Elkin's Municipal Park on Hwy 268 and will carpool to the site. Please meet at 8:45 a.m. We'll leave at 9 o'clock sharp...don't miss the shuttle! Expect to work until about 1 p.m. You'll get a chance to see some of Elkin's history and the old E&A rail bed that lies on the other side of Elkin Creek from the part of the trail that is currently walkable.
Sandwiches are being generously donated by 21 & Main Restaurant...thank you Jeff and Erika and Staff! Please reply if you plan to be there so we have a head-count for sandwiches. Also, please bring snacks and other food to fit your needs. Don't forget to bring your own water!
Other things to bring if you can...
Gloves, loppers, rake, shovel, maddox, chainsaw, other small gardening/landscaping tools, small first aid kit.
Wear boots or shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and be prepared for weather.
Very Important...Please reply to Denise Lyon at myfrienddenise@gmail.com if you plan to attend. We need to plan ahead for shuttles and sandwiches! Thanks. |
Great Turnout at Last Trail Workday on the Yadkin at Crater Park!
More than 30 volunteers showed up to blaze the first section of riverfront trail in February. A mountain of brush and limbs were cleared by a fun and enthusiastic group who created the beginning of a trail that will allow us to enjoy our Riverfront. Soon the trail will be mulched, and a campsite and secure boat rack will be installed for all our Yadkin River Trail paddlers to use. Go check it out!
Please visit our website to read more about this day! Thanks to the Elkin community for your volunteer spirit!
