What is the price of government?
The City of Roanoke has started the process and will answer this question for Fiscal Year 2013 in the coming weeks. Last year, City Manager Chris Morrill introduced Roanoke's local government to the Budgeting for Outcomes (BFO) method to develop the annual budget. By expanding the number of employees involved in the budget development process, city staff gained a broader perspective of Roanoke's financial needs. The BFO method allowed them to move past traditional practices and take a fresh look at how to best utilize the city's resources. Learn more about the budget process here. |

Leadership College encourages civic engagement
It might be easy to take for granted, but everywhere, every day, city government is working on behalf of its citizens. The next session begins Wednesday, March 21, and runs through May 16. Find out the details here. |

But they all have something in common - a deep and longstanding commitment to doing good work in the community. Honored this past November, the 2011 Citizen of the Year, the Rev. Dr. William L. Lee, is no exception. Read more here. |
