Aloha ,
After months of public outreach and community presentations, Brigham Young University-Hawaii will discuss its next phase of proposed growth before the region's neighborhood board. The Ko'olauloa Neighborhood Board will hear an informational presentation about campus growth plans at its meeting on Thursday evening.
The university is proposing replacement of aging academic buildings and construction of new student housing, with a rough timeline of 2014 to 2018. The project will allow BYU-Hawaii to serve more students and will facilitate greater sustainability through an increase of enrollment to around 3,700 students. Proposals include significant campus and community drainage solutions.
Last month the university and Hawaii Reserves, Inc., made a presentation about drainage and growth plans at the Laie Community Association public meeting. In addition, plans have been made a part of the July update to the Envision Laie Info Center, and hundreds of residents have participated in small group meetings since May to discuss the proposals.
