Aloha ,

Members of the Honolulu City Council will be in our community next Wednesday, June 1st. As previously announced, the council's Zoning Committee will hold a public hearing to receive input on a permit application for the Laie hotel. Even if you don't testify, your attendance in support is critical and makes a difference. The meeting is set for Wednesday, June 1st, 6 pm, at the Kahuku High School cafeteria. Please see the full story below.

Also, we recently posted a new video on our website that gives a brief update on drainage. It's the first in a series of videos that provide an update on Laie projects, such as the hotel, growth at BYU-Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center, etc. To view the drainage update, go to www.envisionlaie.com.

We appreciate your continuing involvement and look forward to seeing you next Wednesday!

Mahalo,

The Envision Lā'ie Team

Public Hearing for Laie Hotel - Weds., June 1st

Tailgate at 5 pm, Zoning Committee Hearing at 6 pm

150 construction jobs...125 new jobs for residents, and students in BYU-Hawaii's hospitality program...a hotel nearby for those visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center and local families...a venue for wedding receptions, family reunions and other gatherings...

Are you in favor? If so, your support is needed.

The Zoning Committee of the City Council will be in our community to hear resident input regarding the hotel on Wednesday, June 1st, 6 pm, at the Kahuku High School cafeteria. This is the first time in years that City Council members have held a meeting in our community. Opposing voices -- some from outside our community -- have been working hard to prevent our opportunities for needed growth and jobs, and will be at the hearing to voice their opinions. If you are in favor of growth that will benefit our community and institutions, it's vital that you attend to show your support.

Although the site is already zoned for hotel and business use, a Special Management Area permit is needed due to the site's proximity to the shoreline. If the SMA permit is granted by the City Council, building permits for the hotel may be obtained, with groundbreaking anticipated at the end of this year. The goal is to have the hotel open for the PCC's 50th Anniversary in 2013!

For more info on the hotel and SMA permit application, please see our February 17, 2011 newsletter available in the Newsletter Archive at www.envisionlaie.com.

Please e-mail us at contactus@envisionlaie.com to request a free Envision Laie t-shirt to wear at the meeting. Parking is limited so come early to tailgate with us at 5 pm and get a good seat! Our collective attendance in support is critical to our community's future.
