Aloha ,
On Tuesday evening residents had another opportunity to give input on the City's Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan draft.
Several hundred residents showed up in the blue Envision Laie t-shirts to show their support. From beginning to end of the meeting, the Kahuku High cafeteria was awash in a sea of blue.

The strong showing sent a clear message to City staff and consultants that the large majority of Ko'olau Loa favors growth proposals for our area. Attendance by supporters was a reflection of an extensive, scientific survey last year of nearly 700 Oahu and area residents. The results of that survey showed that 3 out of 4 Ko'olau Loa residents support amending the City's plan to allow growth for BYU-Hawaii and developing housing at Malaekahana.

Many community leaders and residents testified in support of the City's plan draft. An overriding theme was that there are real needs in our area, the City's planning department listened and the plan draft reflects what the community wants.

The meeting was a great success, due largely to those who attended even if they did not voice their support -- just being there conveyed a strong message. A big mahalo to all those who came out to show their support. Thank you,
