Time to act on the Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan

Laie from aboveComments sought, public meeting scheduled

The Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) public review draft is drawing a lot of attention in our community and the media.

Residents and stakeholders now have an opportunity to make their views known. It's important that city planners know what we think. We hope you will participate in the input process.

Envision Lā'ie leaders, including the Lā'ie Community Association, Brigham Young University-Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center and Hawaii Reserves, Inc., have reviewed the public draft and are pleased with the changes the city has proposed. That includes growth for BYU-Hawaii, workforce housing at Malaekahana and an alternate access road.

While not all of our requested changes were included, we respect the balance city planners are trying to achieve and we believe they have heard the community's voice.

To comment on the KSCP draft,  please click here.  A new email message addressed to the city's consultant will pop-up, with "cc" copies addressed to the city's Department of Planning and Permitting and the Lā'ie Community Association (for general tally purposes). (Note: Mac Mail users  may need to insert a comma in the place of the semi-colon between the two "cc" addresses.) Or send an email to: info@hhf.com, info@honoluludpp.org, and info@laiecommunityassociation.org.

Comments need not be lengthy to be effective -- a  statement regarding your support for the plan and why you want to see it implemented is fine. However, all comments should include a name and an address.  Encourage your household members, family and friends to send in their comments too -- every opinion matters and every voice counts.
