Get ready to tot up those dances for our Modern Jive Dance Challenge which kicks of October 5th and will run for nine weeks. Registration opens on September 21st, and you can start counting dances in September.
The winner gets a top of the range iPod Touch (worth over $250), 2nd (consolation) prize is $50 in Gift Certificates, which kicks in if Nicky wins. To win the iPod Touch you must dance more dances overall than me (Nicky), at any of our modern jive classes and events.If I win I get my iPod - but - there's still a $50 Gift Certificate to be won.

Dance Tip: Keeping count of your dances
Tally your dances as you dance! It's hard to keep track of how many dances you've done, as you'll be so busy having fun dancing. One way to track your dances is to get a tally counter and each time you start a dance, click it!.Takes a little discipline however it's a great way to ensure you keep track. I will have some for sale at a couple of dollars so registrants can purchase one,or you can get hold of one yourself from an office store (they do tend to be a little pricey though, so you may want to look around a little). Of course you can also keep a manual record of your dances - more on that later. Let's get dancing! |

Modern Jive - Looks Great at Weddings
I found this video through a share from a friend on Twitter. It reminded me of a key reason people take beginner adult dance classes in Toronto - weddings. Some people take up modern jive dancing for their own wedding, others to dance at a wedding. One thing is certain...you will probably get invited to a wedding at some point, maybe several a year and a central feature is dancing.

We are at the Monarch's Pub, Delta Chelsea Hotel. if you are on Facebook RSVP to the event here. To become confident at modern jive it's important to do as much freestyle as you can... so we organize our monthly dance social to give you another opportunity to dance outside formal lessons.Plus they are great fun and even a few moves look really impressive on the dance floor.
