Why not  win an iPod Touch  for doing what you love - dancing?

dance more dances in class in freestyle than... Nicky!

So, here's the deal. I (Nicky) want a new iPod Touch, preferably for the holidays. So, having seen a great challenge done by our friends across the pond last month, I reckon I too should earn my new iPod by dancing for it. Freestyle of course. And I am throwing the challenge open to you dear friends... keeping it VERY simple.  

All YOU have to do is dance more songs than me in any of our freestyle events between October 5th  November 30th.  

Are you game? 

If you beat me in this challenge I will give you a brand new iPod Touch (worth $250!)   

2nd prize is a $50 gift certificate (LCBO, Amazon, ITunes, your choice)  

If I dance more dances, then I get my iPod Touch!  

 The Rules

• The danceathon contest is open to all Jive Nation Toronto paying customers.
• You must dance full songs of at least 3 minutes long (no starting half way, or stopping half way).
• You must dance with at least 5 different people in the freestyle session (no dancing with the same partner all night, we want it to be social dancing )
• Dances must be at Jive Nation Toronto organized  freestyle events.
• Beginner Intensive Workshops don't count  
• Jive Nation Toronto Saturday Evening Social events (monthly evening social, afternoon socials) DO count 
• You can dance a maximum of 25 dances at any one event. (so no all day dance marathons to clock up freestyles!)
• Dance must be modern jive - social partner dancing (no dancing round the handbags alone etc)  
• Bonus!! - If you are registered  for the Jive Danceathon by September 21st you can count any dances you do as of September 21st! 
• You can invite your friends, the more the merrier 
• The contest is open to beginners, Intermediates, Improvers and Advanced  - in short - everyone. 

Registration 

• You must register by Thursday September 28th if you wish to take part - email registration only please to jivenationtoronto@gmail.com  
• Contest kicks off on Weds October 5th. Bonus - any dances you do at our Modern Jive Social on September 24th you can count towards your dance tally!  
• Contest ends on November 30th. The winner will be announced our November 30th class during the freestyle session 
• You must send me your dance tally by each Friday eventing - I'll compile a leader board and so you'll all know how you're doing.  That means you will need to keep track of your dances (I'll tell you how), but your name will be up in lights!
• You will need to ensure you're signed up to the newsletter 
• The winner will be announced at our November 30th modern jive class during the freestyle.

The winner will get an iPod Touch,  

the runner up will win a $50 gift certificate.

Remember you have to have danced more dances than me by November 30th (in 9 weeks). If I've danced the most, I get my iPod. If there is a tie we will break the tie. 

I'll  be giving you tips on how to score the most dances, length of freestyles, tallying your dances etc, and quite likely we will have some additional rules as we go along. You can share your tips too, but play fair. 

Now, full disclosure.... I was so impressed with the London contest for an iPad and thought it would be really cool to do it here for our modern jive community, with some changes to suit our set up. So credit to Simon at Jive Nation in London for the idea. Depending on how our iPod Touch Danceathon goes, maybe it'll be an iPad next year. So think of this as a trial run. I want an iPad too, I just can't justify it - yet. 

I want to get us all doing more freestyle. You're doing it anyway, so why not give it a shot?
