Dr. Unterseher joined Valley County Health System on Aug. 2 and will begin seeing patients on Aug. 6th.

New Building Update #31
During the weeks of July 19th & 26th, work continued at a fast
Boom in Operating Room | pace in the new hospital. Wall and floor covering installation was finished in the medical clinic, specialty clinic and emergency department. The stone work on the fireplace in the lobby was completed and floor coverings were started in the administration area.
In the next several weeks ceiling pads will continue to be installed and wall and floor coverings will be finished. The landscaping project will also be completed. Exterior signage will be erected and office furniture will be delivered.
The opening date for the new hospital will be Monday, October 4, 2010. A public open house will be held on Sunday, September 26th from 1-4 pm. VCHS & Univ. of NE Extension Awarded $10,000 Grant
ORD - Valley County Health System and the University of
BCBS Awards $10,000 Grant | Nebraska Extension were presented with a $10,000 grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska on August 1st at the Valley County Fair. The funds will be used to fund "Fit & Lovin' It," a program for area 5th graders. The grant is made possible through the 2010 BlueHealth Advantage Wellness Grant program. The "Fit and Lovin' It" program will provide a learning opportunity for area 5th grade students to increase awareness, encourage skill enhancement and focus of attitude toward individual health. These include those related to nutrition, physical activity, seat belt use and tobacco. The program will be held during the 2010-2011 school year.
Senator Kate Sullivan, Valley County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Helen Cullers, Extension Educator Kayla Hinrichs, VCHS Human Resources Director Tricia Richards and BCBS of NE Board Chair Jack Mills provided remarks at the event.

Dacpano Attends Clinical Lab Expo
Ord, NE - Gerry Dacpano, Medical Technologist and
Gerry Dacpano, Lab Manager | Laboratory Manager at Valley County Health System, attended the 2010 AAAC Annual Meeting and Clinic Lab Expo in Anaheim, CA from July 25-29. The expo consisted of educational sessions in areas such as autoimmune disease, toxicology, cancer, cardiac and vascular disease, interpreting lab data and training lab personnel.
In addition, Dacpano has also recently attended the Siemens Dade Dimension EXL Training and Beckman-Coulter Elite Series Coagulation Training for lab equipment in the new hospital facility.
Gerry has been employed with VCHS since October 2005. |
