Spring has Sprung!
Come out and join us for some
naked fun in the sun!

SpringsFlowers7
It's barely Mid-March but Spring has definitely sprung in Palm Springs. The Jasmine is in bloom, the Citrus trees are about to bloom, and the wildflowers are coming up everywhere.

SpringsFlowers7
I love mornings in March and April. Every day, I get up, get dressed (it's still a bit too cool in the early morning not to), and go out to set up breakfast. I am greeted by the wonderful scent of jasmine and the songs of birds. OK. So maybe the Mockingbirds have a tendency to sing 24-7 this time of year, but it's still nice.

SpringsFlowers7
Anyway, once the sun's full up, it's warm enough to sit in the sun by the pool (which is nice and warm) and enjoy the view (of the mountains and/or the other guys sunning by the pool).

Made plans to join us yet?
If not, now's the time!
Call us at 800-732-7555.
There are still rooms left for White Party, Coachella and Easter Weekend!

March Eye Candy:
Ginger Men!

In Honor of
St. Patrick's Day
(and fair haired men, whether they be Irish
or not)!

Stephen and I just returned from Detroit, and from his induction into the St. Andrew's Society - a heritage and service organization for people of Scottish ancestry.

SpringsFlowers7
Stephen is descended from a long line of Scots on both sides of his family, and carries the Boyd surname - well-known among Scots. But his heritage is not just Scottish. Rather, like most Americans of Western European descent, he is descended from a broad melting pot of people that includes the English, Scotch-Irish, French, Canadian, and Irish.
SpringsFlowers7

I share a similar background, although my own mix is a made up of English, German, Scottish, Scotch-Irish and Irish.

With that in mind, I felt it was entirely appropriate for us to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and our mutual Irish heritage with a special tribute to fair haired men, no matter what their particular lineage.

SpringsFlowers7
I hope everyone enjoys the eye candy and joins us in a virtual toast in honor of St. Patrick's Day (and fair-haired men)! After all, there's an old saying that everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

Out and About, and Back Again!

A quick trip back to my husband's hometown just North of Detroit, Michigan last week reminded us both how much we love living in Palm Springs! (To the point that we practically kissed the ground when our plane landed at the Palm Springs International Airport.) It was a nice visit overall, and it was good to see family, but we are definitely happy to be back (and enjoying daytime high temperatures that are in the high seventies and low eighties).

Not that there's anything wrong with other parts of the country. The United States is full of an incredible diversity of landscapes and climates, and there's something wonderful about all of them.

The foot or so of snow in Michigan was pretty (as long as we didn't have to actually go out in it or shovel sidewalks), and the cold weather was not nearly as unbearable as we'd thought it might be. But we are definitely spoiled, and although we already knew that, the trip served as a powerful reminder for us.

Nor were the reminders limited to the weather. There was also the fact that our airport is so easy to get into and out of, and the fact that it's just a couple of miles from downtown and our Inn. Most metropolitan areas (including Detroit) require a 45 to 90 minute drive to even get to the airport, then another hour or so to negotiate check-in and security. The Palm Springs International Airport is both close, and convenient.

We were also reminded that most communities are not nearly as open and accepting as our small Southern California town. We've lived in Palm Springs long enough to take the fact that we are an openly gay couple for granted.  You'll find gay couples walking arm in arm or hand in hand pretty much any day you happen to drive downtown in Palm Springs. And nobody looks askance or says a thing. Our community is threaded into our local community at every level. So much so that it really isn't something people even have to  think about.

So here we are. Happy to be back and happier to be spoiled!
