August 8, 2012 Dear WGBA Friends and Colleagues,
The first time this staff has submitted an entire conference for continuing education credits has taught us one thing: It takes a really long time and a lot of work! I want to say a big thank you to our Senior Intern, Drew Dillmann, for all of the time and work he put into gathering all of the details on the six General Sessions and three keynote presentations he submitted to AIA and GBCI for us. The good news is that all of them got approved so that you can attend the SE2 conference not only for education, entertainment, good food, friends and networking but also get up to 13 CEUs from two important credentialing bodies in our profession: AIA and GBCI. For all of the architects and LEED AP's that have been asking what the CEU's are, finally, here they are! They can be accessed on our website HERE.

2012 SE2 Conference
"A Day in the Life of a Smart, Green Building"
Clay Nesler, Vice President of Global Energy and Sustainability at Johnson Controls, will present "A Day in the Life of a Smart, Green Building" as the first keynote address of the 9th annual SE2 conference. This presentation begins with a "near-future" scenario describing a day in the life of a building which integrates distributed generation, energy storage and advanced control technology with enterprise IT systems and smart grid communications. A number of case studies will be presented which show examples of this advanced functionality in place today and how it contributes to improved energy efficiency and sustainability at a building, campus or enterprise level.

Clay Nesler is the Vice President, Global Energy and Sustainability for the Building Efficiency business of Johnson Controls. In this role, he is responsible for the company's enterprise advisory and integration services business as well as energy and sustainability strategy, policy, innovation and the Johnson Controls Institute for Building Efficiency. Since joining Johnson Controls in 1983, Clay has held a variety of leadership positions in research, development, marketing and strategy in both the United States and Europe. Clay received BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a co-inventor on ten patents.
