Re: Me2 Program Signs on as SE2 Sponsor
Dear WGBA Friends and Colleagues,
I had the opportunity this week to talk to Erick Shambarger of the Milwaukee Office of Environmental Sustainability who oversees the Milwaukee Energy Efficiency program (Me2). Erick told me about the millions of dollars available to City of Milwaukee building owners for energy efficiency projects through the program. Me2 is funded by a Department of Energy Better Buildings grant provided by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, with similar programs in Madison and Racine. The incentives available through Me2 are so good that commercial projects can affordably complete energy saving upgrades with little or no money down! This is an historic opportunity for members of the green building community to promote energy efficiency and make huge strides in greening the built environment in the City of Milwaukee. WGBA and the City of Milwaukee ask for your help to get the word out and take advantage of Me2 before this limited-time stimulus program ends.
Here are the details:
Small Business Incentives - Projects under $50,000 and under 100kW:
Energy Savings ME2 Incentives Achieve 10-14% energy savings 20% of project cost Achieve 15-24% energy savings 40% of project cost Achieve 25% + energy savings 60% of project cost (Maximum incentive is $30,000)
General Business Incentives - Projects $50,000 - $1m and over 100kW:
Energy Savings ME2 Incentives Achieve 10-14% energy savings 10% of project cost Achieve 15-24% energy savings 20% of project cost Achieve 25% + energy savings 30% of project cost (Maximum incentive is $30,000)
In addition to the above incentives, the Me2 program has financing options that coupled with Me2 incentives make it possible to complete large energy efficiency projects with no money down!
Check out how easy the Me2 program is to use and incentivize your energy efficiency projects up to 60% by clicking on this link to the website. In addition, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced the City has joined the national Better Buildings Challenge and is encouraging downtown building owners to commit to reducing their energy use by 20% in 2012. With the help of great programs like Me2, Milwaukee will make this challenge! To get more information, you can also contact Erick .
More to come! |
