Green Insurance - Tomorrow's Standard

| |
Tuesday, June 5th, 5:00 PM
The insurance industry is involved in the sustainable development movement, including the conservation of resources, improved energy efficiency, environmentally friendly construction, and renewable energy. Property insurance is designed to pay for partial or total loss of insured property as well as business income lost due to disruption of operations. But issues arise in connection with property, liability, and Errors and Omissions coverages. Insurance companies began creating specialized coverages in 2006 for a multitude of unique green risks. Increased costs to recycle building materials, comply with new laws and ordinances or replace/repair to LEED standards can be overlooked by standard insurance programs. Understanding the way your insurance program responds to specific needs or loss is essential in assembling a complete green insurance program.
