The Wisconsin Green Building Alliance 9th Annual SE2 Sustainability and Energy Efficiency conference will be held on Friday, September 28th at UW Milwaukee. The name of this year's conference is SE²: A New Focus on Green. This year we are taking a new organizational approach to the conference. In addition to the partnership with UW Milwaukee, we are utilizing students and professionals as volunteers in the conference planning process to create an event planned by stakeholders who represent a dynamic and diverse cross-section of the region. This synergy of volunteers builds on the success of other student managed sustainability conferences such as the University of Oregon H.O.P.E.S conference, while still maintaining the appeal to the professional membership and the general public. Combining the youth and energy of students with the experience and leadership of professionals, revitalizes the traditional conference format. Your presentations on the listed topics will make this conference a huge success and contribute to the open dialogue of knowledge sharing that has put Wisconsin in the sustainability spotlight! Remember, in order to be a presenter in this exciting conference, submit your proposal by Wednesday, May 30th!

The 90 minute general sessions will be:

The Economics of Green Building and Sustainability 

What is the role of "economic feasibility" in going green? This session will explore the paybacks and cost management of this element in green building and sustainability projects. 

Emerging Technologies- Smart Grid Technologies, Energy Modeling, Energy Efficiency, Bio-mass, and Transportation

How are the technologies of tomorrow being implemented today? Other technologies are welcome. 

Green Schools & Education

This session will delve into the intricacies of building green schools at all levels, as well the impact such spaces have on the building's educational purpose. 

Design for Urban Agriculture

This session is suited to discuss the many elements of consideration for urban agriculture, from community needs, planning, design, and implementation.



Life Cycle Assessment and Bio-mimicry in Developments and Materials

This session is intended to discover the breadth of sustainability, through projects that consider all elements of life cycle assessment decision making, as well as reflecting on what nature can teach us about design.
