Holsum Dairy Tour: Powered by Methane

Holsum Dairy in Hilbert, WI uses a methane digester to power the facility.

Holsum Dairy is a local farm that works to protect the beautiful Wisconsin countryside that it resides in. A participant of the Wisconsin DNR's Green Tier program and winner of the 2012 Dairy Sustainability Award, Holsum Dairy provides milk for our state by turning cows into recycling machines. This dairy is powered by it's own methane digester that is powered by the cows. Started in 2001, Holsum Dairy's sustainable practices have made it possible for it, and surrounding farms, to thrive. Holsum Dairy is opening its barn doors to the public to show just how a sustainable dairy operates.

Dr. Bob Nagel and Kirk Vander Dussen will be guiding groups through the dairy for a one hour tour that give hands on explanations of the green strategies the farm employs.
