Presenter Bio:
Brock Spencer is the Kohnstam Professor of Chemistry at Beloit College, where he been a faculty member since 1965.He served as Principal Investigator for the ChemLinks Coalition, one of five National Science Foundation Systemic Change Initiative in Chemistry projects.The ChemLinks Coalition of 18 liberal arts colleges and private research universities collaborated with the ModularCHEM Consortium, centered at the University of California at Berkeley, to restructure the introductory chemistry curriculum using thematic modules employing active and collaborative learning strategies.As part of the National Science Foundation's Multi-Initiative Dissemination Project, he helped organize and present more than 30 workshops nationwide to disseminate these reforms.He oversaw the decade-long planning and construction process for the Beloit College Center for the Sciences, which received LEED Certification at the Platinum level from the U.S. Green Building Council in 2009, and has been active in campus sustainability education and initiatives.
