Introduction to the International Green Construction Code

| |
The new International Green Construction Code (IGCC) is a recognized building code from the International Code Council that is available for adoption and could be coming to Wisconsin in the near future. The IGCC is positioned to serve as a powerful tool for establishing the minimum performance criteria for sustainable buildings. This model overlay code reduces the energy use and carbon footprint of new and existing commercial buildings while minimizing the adverse impact of building construction and operations on the environment.
Learn the scope and intent of the IGCC; the legislative adoption process; how jurisdictions can address local priorities through customization; and how the code will help lead sustainable design.
This is a joint event sponsored by the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance, Southwest Region and the American Institute of Architects AIA Wisconsin, Southwest Chapter. The event is being hosted by UW-Extension.
Presenter:
Henry Kosarzycki, A.I.A.
Architect, Health Care Surveyor Wisconsin Department of Health Services
Henry is an Architect and Health Care Surveyor for the WI Dept. of Health Services, the President of AIA-Wisconsin, and a member of the International Code Council. He recently represented the American Institute of Architects as a member of the International Green Construction Code administrative and building performance workgroup.
